Widevine · PlayReady · FairPlay

DRM video hosting from $12 a month. Not from an enterprise sales call.

Studio-grade encryption for your courses, trainings and paid content — the same Widevine, PlayReady and FairPlay that Netflix uses — switched on per project from the dashboard. Screen recorders get black frames. Downloaders get nothing. Your viewers just press play.

No card needed. DRM is available during the trial.

    Encrypted end to end

Streams are encrypted at encode time and decrypted only inside the browser's protected media path. The key never touches your website, your LMS or a screen recorder.

    Every device, one upload

One encode is licensed for Widevine, PlayReady and FairPlay, so Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Android, Windows, Mac, iPhone and iPad are all covered without re-uploading.

    Licenses that you meter

Every plan includes a monthly allowance of protected plays, with a cap you control. No surprise invoices — you see the count in your dashboard.

    Layered with the rest

DRM sits on top of signed URLs, domain whitelists, country and IP rules, password gates and viewer-identifying watermarks. Use what each project needs.

    Fast to start

Protected videos are pre-warmed into 300+ edge locations at encode time and start in under a second on a warm cache. DRM adds one license round-trip, nothing more.

    Per project, not per account

Protect the paid course, leave the free previews open. A toggle in project settings; the same embed code either way.

    Which DRM plays where

The three systems together cover effectively every browser and device your viewers own. StreamVault packages a single encode for all three.

    PlayReady

    StreamVault vs Vimeo for DRM

Vimeo's own plan comparison lists DRM and geo-blocking as Enterprise-only, with no self-serve price. Here is how the two line up on the things that matter for protected content.

    Frequently asked

What does DRM actually stop that signed URLs don't?+

Signed URLs stop people from sharing a link. DRM stops the video itself from being captured: the stream is encrypted, the key is released only to a trusted player, and the browser or operating system decrypts inside a protected path. Screen recorders and downloaders get black frames or nothing at all. On Apple devices and on Windows with PlayReady the output itself is protected at the hardware level.

Which devices and browsers are covered?+

All of them that matter: Widevine for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Android and Chromecast; PlayReady for Edge on Windows and smart TVs; FairPlay for Safari on Mac and every browser on iPhone and iPad. A single encode is protected for all three — you upload once.

How much does DRM cost on StreamVault?+

There is no add-on fee. DRM is included on every paid plan and switched on per project. Starter includes 1,000 protected plays a month, Plus 3,000 and Pro 5,000; beyond that it is $6 per extra 1,000 plays, and you can cap it. A protected play is one license issued to one viewer session.

How is that different from Vimeo?+

Vimeo lists DRM and geo-blocking as Enterprise-only features with no published price — you talk to sales and sign an annual agreement. On StreamVault you toggle it on a project from $12 a month.

Do I need to change my player or my site?+

No. The same embed code works. When a project has DRM on, the player negotiates the license automatically. Your LMS, membership plugin or website never sees a key.

Can I turn DRM on for some videos and not others?+

Yes. DRM is a project-level setting, so you can protect your paid course while leaving your free previews and marketing clips unprotected, which keeps them instant to start and easy to share.

    Is there a free trial?+

Yes — a 7-day trial with no card, and DRM is available during the trial so you can test playback on your own devices before paying.

Protect your first video in ten minutes

Create a project, switch DRM on, upload. Test it on your own phone before you pay anything.
